Short Story - To Them These Streets Belong (2006)
Have you ever noticed that casinos don’t have windows? They are set up far inside buildings, circular constructions shielded from doors and natural light. Loud and bright, glaringly artificial and decadent. It’s a mouse trap designed to catch the human rats of self indulgence, fuelled either by greed or desire. You could die in here from starvation or exhaustion without ever knowing you’ve been at it for days. Viva Las Vegas indeed. If Liberace himself decorated it, it couldn’t be more overindulgent. Everything is so unbearably brass, the slot machines’ twinkle reflects off every available surface from the marble counter right up to the chandeliers. The gilded ceiling rests heavily upon a floor almost equally as heavy with the patrons’ smoke, or maybe it’s just my vision clouding up.
Prose - Free (2005)
My eyes gaze up to the heavens, as so many times before. So vast, unbridled, uncharted – Free. I don’t think I was made for the land – it doesn’t soothe me. It contains me. When the roaring ocean waves crash against rugged rocks, I’m at peace. When travelling through the blue sky, I rejoice. Because I’m free. It leaves me to my thoughts. Allows me to explore, to be independent and to breathe new air. My imagination can race unchecked amongst the clouds.

Short Story - Hell or High Water (2007)
A kid was screaming somewhere. The cry echoed through the corridor, packed as the mall was, and cut into my mind. I hated screaming kids. Then again, I guess everyone did, even mothers. Lucy pulled impatiently at my sleeve and it took all my self control to not growl at her. Not that I had much. Self control, I mean. I had a nice little knack of always saying whatever came to mind. My mother said I was a slave to my impulses, something which made my cynicism all the more remarkable. Whatever. The point is, the last thing I wanted to be doing on a Saturday morning was make my way to one of those trippy hippy stores. Or rather, new age stores. Something like that. Lucy was really excited about it though but she refused to go alone. She was my best friend, what could I do?
Short Story - Wonder (2007)
Crack.
Vision jarred.
The horizon slumped dramatically to the left.
All pretence of being level and balanced was lost.
The worst of it was she swore she could still see the car when she glanced back, squinting as the engine continued to send out its own little smoke signals.
“Fuck.”
She glared down at the shoe, it’s heel dangling uselessly. Unfortunately inanimate objects seemed immune to the threat of a temper tantrum.
Script - Amped (Ep 1, 2007)
1 INT. ROOM
Mid shot of a dark room, it’s small, consisting of mainly a bed, a desk and a couch with minimal walking room, none of which is really visible as it is very messy - there are clothes, books and cds everywhere. The only light is a dull glow from behind the curtains.
Profile - Four Year Strong (2008)
Four Year Strong consists of five Worchester natives who take pride in making a lot of not quite power pop, hardcore or punk, noise. Don’t let this difficulty defining their sound discourage you, if anything the eclectic mixture of style gives the band’s sound a nice fresh feel that sits somewhere between a Mayday Parade type vocal layering and a impressive Enter Shikari energy level. It’s not surprising then that the band have shared a stage with the likes of Hellogoodbye, Hit The Lights, Houston Calls, and Hidden In Plain View.

Review - Brand New (2007)
The 9th of June was a cold, rainy day. Somewhere in Newcastle a huge ship was getting better acquainted with a beach, a bunch of people at Luna Park were cursing the unlimited rides that came with their Come Together tickets (held in the rain for the second year running), and after nightfall an eclectic sold out crowd were packing snugly into the UNSW Roundhouse. Within seconds the cloak room had run out of plastic bags for all the jackets but no one really seemed to care, after a long wait for the band’s return, the expectant crowd was saving all their attention and energy for Brand New. It’s a good thing they did.

Profile - Say Anything (2007)
No, not the movie, the band. But if you were thinking of the 1989 John Cusak flick of the same name, then you’re right…kind of. Front man Max Bemis, did indeed name his band after the movie because he felt he could relate to the main character, one Lloyd Dobler. Really, once you’ve given Say Anything a spin, that isn’t at all suprising.
